Sausage & Pepper Relish Pizza

Makes one 12-inch pizza.

Ingredients

  • Sweet red pepper relish, approx half a jar for a 12 inch pizza
  • Fresh or store bought pizza dough 
  • 1 or 2 links of hot Italian sausage, casing removed crumbled and par cooked in a pan.
  • Fresh mozzarella (refrigerate for 15 minutes for easier cutting) or your favorite pizza mix
  • Fresh basil

Directions

  1. Preheat oven according to pizza dough package directions (typically 450-500°F).
  2. Strain Fourth Creek Relish briefly using a fine mesh strainer to remove excess liquid.
  3. Roll out pizza dough on a pizza screen for even cooking and easy cleanup.
  4. Spread the strained relish over the dough in place of tomato sauce, edge to edge.
  5. Top with mozzarella and the par-cooked sausage.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes. At the 8-minute mark, scatter fresh basil leaves on top.
  7. Remove when crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
